Sodium vapour lamp set consisting of:
- 1*Ballast Digital Lumii 600 Watt (dimmable in 4 steps: 250Watt, 400Watt, 600Watt, 600Watt+ (~660Watt))
- 1*Super HPS sodium vapour lamp 600 Watt
- 1*Hammerschlag reflector (47cmx47cm) (illumination area: 100cm x 100cm)
- Cable set for connecting the lamp (C-14 cable)
Note: The main difference between analogue and digital ballasts is that digital ballasts can be dimmed. For these, the highest wattage sodium lamp is still selected. For example, a 600Watt digital ballast will need a 600Watt Super HPS or 600Watt metal halide (MH) lamp, even if the lamps can be dimmed to lower wattages. Digital ballasts are therefore particularly suitable in summer, as the heat generated by the lamp can be controlled by adjusting the wattage level. In addition, digital ballasts are often used during the growth phase to illuminate the plants at a low wattage, as this saves electricity and the plants do not need the full lamp power during the growth phase.
Do I need a metal halide lamp with my set?
Metal halide lamps, like sodium lamps, are high-pressure lamps. In contrast to sodium vapour lamps, they have a higher blue light component, which makes them particularly suitable for use in growing areas. The internode distances of the plant are shortened by the light of the metal halide lamp, so that the plant grows bushier overall and shoots up less.
Especially for longer growth phases (e.g. growing from seed) or the use of various growth optimisation methods (such as ScroG or Sea of Green), a metal halide lamp should be used during growth. The wattage should correspond to the selected VSG. If a digital/dimmable VSG is selected, the wattage of the selected MH should correspond to the maximum wattage of the ballast.
