Mode of action

The adult predatory mite feeds, under optimal conditions (approx. 25 °C, ≥ 65 % RH), on up to 6 thrips larvae per day. A. cucumeris does not feed exclusively on thrips but also consumes spider mites, broad mites and pollen.

Extended description: Shortly after release, the predatory mites actively search for prey. They mainly attack thrips larvae and suck them out (typically 2–3, up to 6 per day under optimal conditions). Other plant-damaging mites (including spider and broad mites) as well as flower pollen can also serve as food – making a preventive application possible in certain crops.

Application

  1. Timing: Apply in time before thrips infestation or very early at first symptoms.
  2. Release: Hang sachets directly onto crop plants using the suspension strip (do not open). The predatory mites leave the sachets through a pre-punched opening and emerge over a period of up to 6 weeks.
  3. Reapplication: Depending on infestation pressure and climate, reapply every 4–6 weeks (practical average: about 5 weeks).
  4. Practical tip: Place 1 sachet on every 5th plant (adjust according to plant density).

Recommended dosage (guidelines)

  • General: Depending on infestation, approx. 50–100 ind./m²
  • Ornamentals & vegetables (according to plant size):
    • up to 50 cm: preventive 10 ind./m²; curative 20 ind./m²
    • up to 125 cm: preventive 20 ind./m²; curative 40 ind./m²
    • over 125 cm: preventive 50 ind./m²; curative 100 ind./m²
  • Strawberries & berries: preventive 50 ind./m²; curative 100 ind./m²
