In addition, potassium ensures the opening and closing of the stomata, so that excess heat can be dissipated.
A potassium deficiency is expressed by the fact that the stomata (split openings) no longer has to open completely and the plant has to evaporate a lot of water to cool down. This results in chlorosis at the leaf edges, leading to necrosis (death) at a later stage.
If there is an excess of potassium, the growth is inhibited and the plant becomes dark. An antagonistic mode of action also inhibits the absorption of other cations (Ca and Mg).
